A Fun Deia At the Beach.

Today we went to Deia Beach. The partner restaurant to luxury hotel Bougainvillea Barbados.  It was fabulous.

Deia beach has a swimming pool that tops out at 6 ft, outdoor dining areas, a beach and loungers.  The menu is a pleasure to the mouth and the drinks go down too quickly.

We arrived with another family rolling 8 deep. 4 adults and 4 children under 12. We got a seat in the grassy area next to the pool and spread out. It was noon and we planned to spend the entire day in and out of the water. Luckily, all of the seating areas on the grass have the natural shade of coconut trees so we didn’t run the risk of too much sun. We started with water, some bevvies and the Meze Platter. Delish. The platter consisted it toasted pita, hummus, lamb kofta meatballs and yucca fries. It was amazingly good.

The breeze was nice and D’Shawn kept the drinks coming.

There was a healthy mix of kids and adults at the pool so no one was uncomfortable. Our kids found a couple others and played with them while us adults made some friends lounging in the pool. The kiddos got hungry, so we decided on some food. Seafood flatbread pizza, Poke bowls, coconut shrimp and mocktails. That pizza is the reason we keep coming back. Thin crust, buttery seafood and perfect seasoning. As a parent and a dad, I learned to not order too much for myself because the kids are always saying things like “dad will finish it”.  Looking at my midsection, I can approve this message. The day continued with more cocktails for the adults. My favorite was their Espresso Martini however they went down way too smoothly. I recommend.

As a result of the hurricane passing, the water was a bit rougher than normal so we only got to dunk our feet in the sea but it was still fantastic and warm.

Like many restaurants on the island, Deia has a great soundtrack playing all day long. Here. I felt like I was in a lounge dedicated to trip hop and edm. It worked perfectly with the environment. Fisher and Gotan Project playing while the waves ebb and flow was hypnotic. I danced with the kiddos on the grass.

For dessert, we indulged in the Gooey Chocolate Chip cookie with ice cream which came in a hot cast iron skillet. My kids love this dessert and we had to fight them and the others to even sniff it. The cookie was not too soft and gooey as promised. The vanilla ice cream was on of the best I have had in a very long time. We also had the White Chocolate Panna Cotta which was deliciously creamy and melted on the tongue. I finished it all with a cappuccino and a required lay down for a bit. By the time the sun was setting, we had to get the kiddos back to the house for dinner and bedtime. All in all, Deia Beach has never disappointed. Looking forward to the next time.

Practical tips:

  • Get there early so you can sit close to the pool
  • Enter through the parking lot
  • Remember to tip for good service
  • If you are lactose intolerance, don’t forget your pills
  • Most drinks can be made into a mocktail
